Intamin

Intamin is a Swiss company that is best known for amusement rides and rollercoasters. In fact, coaster giants Walter Bolliger and Claude Mabillard worked for Intamin before starting their own company in 1988. Intamin is the one company that makes three different types of monorail: steel box beam straddle, suspended I-beam, and even an inverted-T straddle. These are people-mover class monorails. Here we will discuss the P24 series.

The P24/48 has two cars, the P24/120 has 5 cars, the P24/240 has 10 cars. The width of the box beam is 600 mm (23.6"), the height is 1000mm (39.4"). Typical spacing between support columns is 20m (65.6'). Maximum speed is about 43 kph (26.7 mph). Maximum grade is 7-10%. The Moscow Monorail is a highly modified Intamin monorail that includes linear motor propulsion.
