Von Roll/Adtranz
The Von Roll Monorail was the logical next step in the evolution of this type of monorail. More than 20 of these monorails are in operation worldwide, including Australia (Harbour Link), Canada, Japan, Singapore, and the USA. In 1994, Von Roll sold their technology to Adtranz, now a part of Bombardier. The Newark International Airport was the latest installation of Von Roll technology. The Darling Harbour Monorail was placed in service in 1988. It was Von Roll's first Type MRIII. A train consists of a front car, a rear car, and up to 6 intermediate cars. Each car could hold up to 30 passengers. The technical descriptions are from the Darling Harbour Link Monorail seven-car trains. |
